Version 0.9.0

Health and the real hitbox are shown on the avatar itself, and a level from a newer version opens with a warning

  • The avatar's body is a grid of squares, and losing health breaks them away from the edge inwards. A run going badly is visible on the player rather than on a bar. Shatter Effect in the graphics settings turns this off: the body becomes one square that fades instead
  • A ring of dots on the avatar sits exactly on its hitbox: a radius of 0.4 against a body 1 unit wide. The silhouette was never the hitbox, and now you see where it really is. The same ring counts lives: a lit dot is a life you still have, a dim one is a life you spent
  • Hitbox Ring Opacity in the interface settings sets how visible the ring is, 0.6 by default. 0 turns it off, but levels are balanced for a player who can see it
  • A checkpoint has a new Restore Health option: it refills your lives the moment the level passes it
  • A level made in a newer version is marked Newer version in the level browser and opens after a warning. When something in it had to be replaced while reading, the game writes a backup first and says how many substitutions it made
  • An effect with Loop off spawned far fewer particles than with it on, which looked like the colour gradient had stopped working. A one-shot effect now bursts as many particles as a looping one keeps alive
